    Paynes Creek Historic State Park

    Paynes Creek Historic State Park commemorates the time between the Second and Third Seminole Wars, and shows visitors the pace and lifestyle of Floridians circa 1850. There are a number of trails throughout the park for visitors to take in Florida's wilds, a visitor center and a playground for younger travelers to enjoy.

    Hollis Garden

    Located on the south side of Lake Mirror Park, Hollis Garden is an award-winning, 1.2 acre botanical garden that was donated to Lakeland. One the grounds of thousands of flowers, trees, vegetables, shrubs and other vegetations. A pathway leads through the gardens, passing several grottoes, waterfalls, fountains and other areas. This garden can be rented out for weddings.

    Little Gator Creek Reserve

    Little Gator Creek Reserve is located on the north end of Lakeland and is home to a range of animals, including deer, turkeys and tortoises. Visitors can hike on the trails, have a picnic and enjoy spending time in one of Florida's natural areas.

    Highlands Hammock State Park

    Located in Sebring, Highlands Hammock State Park offers a diversity of recreational opportunities including hiking, mountain biking, camping and picnicking. The State of Florida's Civilian Conservation Corps Museum is located in the picnic area of this park, and commemorates the workers who are responsible for the construction of many of the parks in Florida's State Park system.

    Hunt Fountain Park
    Inside Hunt Fountain Park, people will find picnic shelters and tables, fields for softball and football, courts for basketball and tennis, a horse arena and a playground. There is plenty of green space to relax in. The park is located in northern Lakeland and is open daily from 7am to 11pm.

    Barnett Family Park

    Barnett Family Park is located in downtown Lakeland, adjacent to Lake Mirror Park. Inside the park is a playground with rubber to soften falls, a water play area with nozzles that spray and a picnic pavilion. Throughout the area, people can see sculptures of Floridian animals. The park is open daily, however the water area is closed on Mondays for maintenance work.

    Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve

    Named for its luscious vegetation, Green Swamp is a 870-sq mi recreation area and wildlife preserve which is easily accessible from Lakeland and Dade City. The headwaters of four significant rivers—Withlacoochee, Hillsborough, Ocklawaha and Peace—intersect in the park, which is also home to 330 species of wildlife. Some of the activities that people do here are fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, canoing and much more.

    Saddle Creek Park offers a range of recreational facilities, including nine shelters, numerous picnic areas, a shooting range and a playground. Located beside Saddle Creek, visitors also have access to several boat ramps, canoe accesses and fishing areas, and can also enjoy camping and hiking.

    Lake Mirror Park & Promenade

    Lake Mirror Park & Promenade are located in downtown Lakeland and are a historically significant aspect of Florida's City Beautiful movement. Designed between 1890 and 1930, this area has been carefully revitalized by stabilizing the walkway, restoring the lights and balustrades and adding art pieces. The park also contains Hollis Garden and the Barnett Family Park and Swan Lake.
